Two Out Of Three (1 Corinthians 8:15)

With manna kept, well, there we are –
Two out of three with added jar
To Decalogue cut into stone,
Just one more part for their new home.

(That would be Aaron’s rod of wood
Which blossomed, hence was understood
That leadership-authority,
It comes from God – not you or me).

But jar of manna in the box
Reminds us all – the object talks
Like wafers and communion wine –
“Things concrete are, not just in mind” –

Food in the wilderness is there,
As in the past, God shows His care
For us when e’er He sets us free,
And desert’s part of Jubilee.

But that’s not all of “Omar” thing,
Though part of it – “An Omar bring
For each one living in your tent;
A limit’s there – or you’ll repent –

For over-much and it will rot;
One Omar take, as you’ve been taught;
But more than that – help others out,
To fill their Omar-jars throughout –

The morning time to gather in;
For weak ones just their tasks begin
And then it’s time to head back home;
If they abide, they’ll bide alone.

So, strong ones, fill their Omars up;
Don’t fill your face and pockets stuff,
But fill your Omar, help the rest
To Omars fill, and you’ll be blessed.

Paul picked that theme up later on,
As he helped church to move along,
Maturing in their faith-full ways,
And grow on up in “giving-grace”.

“When you are strong, your Omar’s filled,
Fill Omars of the weak ones, still
In need of daily bread to eat –
For giving-grace is manna sweet”.
