Full-fillment [#1] Matthew (3:01- 4:11)
What’s basis of all righteousness, how is it, it’s fulfilled?
Not on the shallows of the stream from which our jug is filled;
But rather, it is based upon, “full-filled” to use that word –
His Spirit dwelling in our hearts, and fire that flows when heard.It’s been that way right from the start, with Adam and the tree –
They walked away from Spirit’s power, of garden took their leave;
Gone was the Spirit from their hearts; gone from their world the fire;
All that remained to fuel their lives was shallows and desire.There’s power enough built into life to live with Spirit lost;
There’s motivation built right in – desire in face of cost;
But that’s just splashing at the beach, in shallow part of life,
Which we discover, much surprised, when life’s tsunami strikes.Fulfillment – filling to the full – of life is what’s desired;
Fulfillment of all righteousness, much less, so we’ll get hired;
And when employed, there comes a crunch, we “get along” to keep
Our jobs and paychecks flowing in – to shallow waters keep.But Christ at end of his career as carpenter of wood,
Came to the Jordan River, and with cousin John he stood;
“Baptize me, John, I’ve died to all the shallowness of life,
So bury me in watery grave – I’ll rise, move on through strife.”“But why?” asked John. “All righteousness can be fulfilled that way;
For Holy Spirit comes upon us on our rising day;
And with God’s Spirit in my heart, then righteousness is done
Each day, as I in Spirit walk, then victory is won.”John “buried Him”, He rose again to “resurrection ground”;
Across the river, down the road in desert land was found
To be accosted – Satan tried to bend Him to his ways –
“Pity yourself, don’t walk that walk, but in the shallows play”.“Live off the power that flows through You, not Rhema-words to You;”
“Prove to the folks just who You are, or You will seem a fool;”
“Be gone”, He said, “enough of that – see righteousness fulfilled,
By Spirit in My heart”– and then His heart was stilled.There is a starting-gate for each of us as we start out –
Stay in the shallows of this life, or vision be about;
When that is settled in our hearts, and Spirit dwells within,
We see all righteousness fulfilled, rebellion gone (that’s ‘sin’).navigation
