Body Life (Luke 11:5-13; 1-8)

He added in another piece,
Which bumped it up a notch at least,
By shifting focus to a side
Of what he meant – a base-line slide.

The Judge’s anecdote he shared
At Bible-Talk, but then prepared
A fuller lunch of Seed-Word grown
For us to add, and take on home.

The part about the friend of friend,
Who needed bread – friend asked his friend
For bread, then in the end, success –
He got his bread, so friend could bless –

His friend with food (no prairie farm
Where “Come on in, stay, it’s no harm
To us to share our food with you,
It’s what us prairie farmers do”).

But then he shifted focus to,
“In chat with God, here’s what you do –
Don’t pester – share – life, faith, with thanks;
Your hearts desires, but here’s what ranks –

“Way up there in the benefits
Of such a chat – the team now sits
In better place – both God and you
But also other people too.

“Ask, seek, and knock – good gifts He’ll give,
If you, deciding how to live,
Keep friendship clear, good things transpire
Throughout your life ’fore you expire.”

Said, “Mother T. said ‘prayer’ to her
Was opened hearts to say, ‘yes sir’.
Don’t dump on Him, gripe and complain;
Or fear, through guilt, to come again.

“So yes, it’s good to ‘giver’ be,
Like God designed us all – as He
Desires to flow now through us all
His blessings (hampered by the fall).

But how to cash in on that boon?
Become ‘receivers’; give Him room
To pour His blessing in and through
Your life – it’s kindness meant for you.

“So looking at economy
Of God, it’s different – here we see
Some elements not in the texts
Of “Economics” wilderness.

“That’s what communion’s all about –
Joint prayer with others, without doubt,
Increases bonds twixt us in Christ,
And with each other – body life.”
