The Bouncers (Matthew 25:14-31; Lk 16:19-31; John 6:25-71)

There is a bouncer at the party saying, “You can’t enter in,
For you had your party early, road division here begins;
You had pleasures at your meal time; you had pleasures in your homes;
Now the table’s turned, it’s your turn – in the darkness you must roam”.

So we try another entry, but the bouncer at the door,
Says, “No way that you can enter”, much the same as guy before;
“For your paycheck was enormous, while the other fellows died,
Kept them in the desert from you, pain up here you cannot hide”.

Then we hear there is an entrance for the liberals and the fair,
Lived their lives in disapproval of the rich, for others cared;
“Hey there buddy, not so fast now, look beneath that thin veneer,
You enjoyed your modest lifestyle – middle class – that much is clear.

“Basic minimum of living, house and car and two point two
Kids to raise up to be lawyers, doctors, with your values too;
You think one percent are evil with their riches piled up high –
Wrong – it’s eight percent – you’re with them – ninety-two percent have died.

“God put resources aplenty on the earth to service all,
Mix that resource with His power, all can live and have a ball;
But in Eden you decided, ‘I would rather live myself,
Take resource put here as basic, leave Your resource on the shelf’.

“So you suck it up from others (built-in resource of the earth),
Gather up your barns of plenty ’till your death from day of birth;
Give the status credit to the ones who suck it up the best;
Write off lower-class beneath you – ninety-two percent – the rest.

“See, it’s attitude that’s back behind our God’s economy –
All resources are designed to mix with His – can you not see?
We can use them as we wish to, but for geometric rise,
Let God mix them with His bounty, they’ll explode before your eyes.

“There was freedom in the garden, lots of trees to draw upon;
Quite sufficient to abandon call of God – we could be gone,
But our attitude is selfish (sucking up what ’round us lies)
’Till God’s Spirit is within us – adding His to our supplies.”
