The MSG (Luke 6:24-26 MSG)
I note in MSG (it reads quite well),
That we will taste a little bit of hell,
If we don’t change our ways on road ahead –
He does not want us prematurely dead.First of four ways, if you think you’ve arrived –
That’s all you get – yes, you have now survived,
But people stop assisting in your task;
The way you turn things ’round is start to ask.The second way – if you’re self-satisfied –
For self is only part – you cannot hide
The fact we are a body – you’re a part;
Without the rest of body, what’s a heart?The third, if you think life is fun and games –
It’s not – it is, but life’s not all the same –
There’s ups and downs for everyone it seems;
“To suffer” – that’s the down – that’s what it means.The fourth refers to use of mouth and tongue –
It lubricates one’s way but trouble comes
When we rely on it to gain applause,
So flatter and indulge without a cause –Except, of course, the cause defined as “us”–
Win friends and influence, avoid the fuss;
It works a while then people wonder off,
Or stay around as obstacles, and scoff.So speak the truth, but most importantly,
Live out the truth, be true as you can be;
Feed and be fed, excel, and play your part,
So preaching is a truth-revealing art.navigation
