A-Live

A lie is all there’ll ever be
In terms of life, until I see
The death Christ died in victory,
That I at-one with God might be.

Two thousand years it took to see,
God’s ways for man on earth to be,
By children grown from Abraham,
In desert heat of Promised Land.

Then Christ was born in Bethlehem;
For thirty years grew to man,
Then took Apostles by the hand,
And taught, so they could understand –

That one could split the essence out,
Of Jewish thought, spread it about,
So Judaism-lite could be
Exported to enlighten me –

Not to me, as “just me”, I mean –
For all non-Jewish cultures seem
To need such light, the best to bring
From them – to really make them sing.

“Be salt, and light, and leaven, folks,
To flavor, brighten, lighten – jokes
Relieve the load beneath the yoke
Of Gentile cultures”, thus He spoke.

But one thing more they had to see –
“The threat of death is not to be
The end of your activity,
When blockages emerge for thee”.

He trained his four, then twelve – to train
The seventy-two, and then again,
To train their trainees, so on out,
Right over culture’s walls about.

Some stopped Him cold, there in his tracks;
He died; then rose; then came on back
And rounded up His scattered guys,
And sent them off ’neath foreign skies.

There’s more, of course – my point is this –
God’s deep desire for righteousness
Within our great variety
Of cultures in humanity –

Has cost a lot to help us see,
“With Him in us, then we can be
The best of our variety –
Thus be enriched humanity”.

That day Christ died upon the cross,
To break the bonds, redeem the lost,
He conquered death – for all to see
A way to live in victory;

That Grace empowers a better life;
By God within, our ways shift right;
A lie it is each time we fake
That by our strength some good we make.

It’s Christ who brings us victory
From Zion’s Hill, death on a tree;
He holds his “V” for all to see –
Each lie’s enriched – a-live we be.
