Morning Prayer
Keep me, O Lord, above the scene today;
Keep me in You, in heaven, above the fray;
In what transpires, let me Your focus keep,
As we press on, and we Your kingdom seek.Lord, once I prayed, “O Lord Your kingdom come
In days ahead, new business – as I run
It in its fragile days here in the world”;
You spoke to me through Scripture ’fore the swirl.You took me to those passages which spoke
About Your kingdom – through those words awoke
In me awareness of first task with me –
“Clean up the soul-soil, ready for the seed”.And then You showed me, “Many-fold the growth
When soil is right, but nothing we should boast
About from Your perspective – for the crop
Is many plants, I’m one of larger lot”.All growth’s the same – seeds double, then again;
There’s many factors, soil, and sun, and rain;
But in the end each seed is limited –
If there be more – replant – wheat, oats, or spud.So now, today, as we press on once more,
Keep me above the clatter and the roar,
Safe in Your arms as You point out the way –
What must be done, in You, through this day.Let not distractions, hardened heart, or lust
For things of earth, divert me from that trust
I’ve placed in You as years have drifted by,
That seeds I plant bring harvest by and by.Your Kingdom come through me a bit today
When evening comes, may I with others say,
“This day was good – we moved things on some more”,
Then let it go, in You, whom we adore.Thanks Lord for this.
