Tenacity – The Grace To Push On Through

It’s just a year now ’till we mark the time
When battle started there – that dreadful line
Emerging, slashing Europe quite in half;
Some songs remain, but not much brings a laugh.

We almost lost both wars – was close both times;
We hope it won’t repeat – life’s so sublime
In peacetime, but somehow I doubt that fact –
So time of war will come, when we must act.

I do not see a line that one must cross
From times of peace to times of war and loss;
It’s all the same – our attitude’s the key –
The start of war or peace begins with me.

The things which make for war are all around;
In actions big and small they each are found;
The question facing us – will we push through
In graced tenacity, and see life new?

For lots of folks hang back and share their ‘nae’;
Refuse the gentle touch that saves the day;
Will pay the price that says ‘admit this one,’
Then close the door behind them, have their fun.

Christ said, “How blessed you are if you make peace,
From actions bold, to time spent on your knees”;
Then lived His life that others too might live,
And viewed His life as precious gift to give.

We celebrate the heroes of our wars,
And well we should – for them it closes doors
On life like ours – prosperity and peace –
Through sacrifice is life sublime released.

Tenacity to push on through in war,
Accepted is – in peace it’s even more
A challenge – for in making peace we see
No war result, to mark our victory.
