When All Is Said And Done

There is this scene
     Depicted by our Lord
          One day,

Where he described
     The joy one felt
          When he’d
                Come back –

A tattered lamb
     Astraddle
          O’er his shoulders,

From adventure
     On this hillside –
          Moving lamb
               Amidst a storm
                    From yonder cliff,

Lit only by
     The periodic flashes
          From the
               Rain-drenched
                    Swirling clouds –

And Oh! The joy –
     Not just that task
          Was finished,

But that
     No more
          Would he have
                To search
                     Amongst the
                          Boulders
                               And the
                                    Hidden clefts
                                         In darkling
                                              Night –

For home he was
     At last –
          And to the warmth
               And dryness
                     He’d come in –

But more than that –
     Out of the darkness
          To this light
               He’d now
                    Returned –

For in the light
So much more can be done
          Than in the
               Dark.

Yes –
     And Oh!
          The joy!
