“You Snooze – You Lose” (Fawcett number 12) (Romans 13:11; Matthew 24:36-51; 26:36-48; Proverbs 24:11-12; Ephesians 33:7-9; Proverbs 20:12-13; Matthew 24:44)

Now Santa Anna (diamond studs),
Marauded forth with army thugs,
Against a thin defensive group
Who’d thumbed their nose at hardened troops.

Pushed back against a broken bridge,
Retreat reversed – approached a ridge
Behind which snoozed (siesta time)
The Mexicans at battle line.

“Remember Alamo”, they yelled,
And routed them – soon most were felled –
Revenge for Alamo and rape,
’Till Texas was a Lone Star State.

For Santa Anna captured was,
And kept ’till treaty time because
They wanted to secede – become
A sovereign state when all was done.

“You snooze, you lose” the saying goes,
Think you are safe? Then join with those
Who’ve gone before to kingdom come,
When twenty minute battle’s done.

So Jesus said, “Sit here and wait
For Satan’s just outside the gate”;
“A watchman I have made each one”
Ezekiel quoted God, “till done –

Your task”, so step up to the plate,
And do your part, don’t hesitate;
If you demure when pressure’s on,
You will have lost – all will be gone”.

You must stay ready – love not sleep,
But hold your post – positions keep;
Yes, all is finished, it’s all done,
But look – the battle’s just begun.
