Profiling To Understand

Our local cops size someone up
With profile tool – it’s sort of rough,
And has a twist which makes it bad
For all – but makes the cops feel glad.

It was designed informally
By journalist to danger see
Amongst the riff-raft he would meet
To stories write – out on the street.

Two factors only were required:
Communication style desired;
And way of taking action – that
Was all there was – and good at that.

Each aspect had two factors clear,
Continuums – allayed one’s fear:
Communication “The or tell?” was first;
“Express-withhold?” emotion’s burst.

For actions, two things uppermost
Lest you resemble well-burned toast:
“Be quick or carefully decide?”
And “Random or sequential side?”

That’s it – of course their error made
Is part left out – for they’re afraid
Of danger in dis-comfort zone,
So locus on that point alone.

Each person’s mix is up or down-
Side – but just one says run and hide []
For when they’re bad, they’re bad indeed,
Protection’s what a cop then needs.

But that is understandable –
It was applied – not balanced, full,
As it was used to save some lives
Not help the public grow and thrive.

So what’s your mix? (Communicate
And action style) your profile make;
And think about up-side or down –
A talking point with those around.

For me, I’m “Ask to tell” (a tell),
In novels, poems, which go well,
Or punchy pictures you can see –
I’m curious – to share with thee.

Emotions – those I mix with words;
Because of that I can’t be heard
By those who hold cards to their chest,
And hide their feelings – umph and zest.

In action, I decide quite fast
(And change as quick if it won’t last);
I do not ponder – in my bark
I tack quite fast – no clumsy ark.

Of course I act quite randomly;
Sequential? No – though I can see
The ones who act and teach that way –
Can import stuff sequentially.

My style of action random is,
Because the way I do life’s biz
Is “priorize – re-priorize”
When one task’s done – I use my eyes –

To size up what has greatest claim
To move the line, keep all the same
For if one part falls back I need
To bring it up – it’s that I feed.

I’m inter-active with my space
With Christ as well – for by His grace
I carry on with task at hand
And do His work in giver-land.
