Forgiveness
It’s strange to me, but now I see forgiveness must be given
To self, and all involved to date, now cancer’s from me driven;
For it’s not perfect – healing road – we give God space to act,
And pray we do enough with Him that health returns in fact.But when it comes we needs let go, and move on best we can
Into our future, letting go of trauma of this land;
Mistakes were made, folks weren’t there best, reactions made that clear,
But now it’s time to let that go as we move on from here.Lord, as I face this day of news, first round now done at least,
Grant me the courage to move on Your kingdom to increase;
The time to finish work assigned; or chosen in Your word;
That life might better be through me for others who have heard –Your word to them through what I say, and do, and think, and act;
Your hope extended in this space, that they might grasp the fact
Life works – that they can move from here, whatever be their end;
That roads of life don’t straight remain, but shift, and twist, and bend.Lord for the folks who’ve walked with me five years through cancer land,
My prayers go out of thanks to them that they might under-stand,
How much their help has meant to me, though time has blurred such things –
The wrong’s forgot; the goofs let go – and thanks their memory brings.Thanks, Lord for all this.
