The Extraction

Awoke this night, is early was;
I had a dream – I know because
The sweat which to my body clung,
Remained – this part had just begun.

My youngest son and friend he had,
Had ventured high, and I, as dad
Had followed up a TV tower
To crows-nest ledge, within the hour.

I stabilized – “Lie down; stay here;
In center stay – low – centered – clear
Of edge, I’ll go for help right now,
Call firemen to help somehow.

And so I did – returned to earth,
And fetched some help – they earned their worth
As they got harnesses and ropes,
And brought him safe, extending hope.

For Hope is all we have some days
When troubles come, and price we pay
To lend a helping hand to one
Who needs some help ’fore day is done.

Lord, as I come to You in prayer,
Someone’s in need up in the air;
I pour my heart to You – concerned
That he or she’ll be safe – and learn –

There are some places dangerous,
Where they can go, it’s up to us
To fetch them, but the risks are high
That in extraction both might die.

Lord at this fragile time in life,
I pray for people in such strife;
Please keep them safe, and workers too,
Who try their best to help, in You.

Thanks.
