“The Interview”
“You got some tips as I go in to talk about my work?
I don’t know what I’m supposed to say, I feel like I’m a jerk”
Well, no, more like Egyptian slave out in the desert sun
The slave is still within my mind, although my freedom’s won.It need not take full forty years to clear your head of this;
You’re not the first to feel that way, we’ve all been heaven kissed;
It’s just that most don’t know the scene, they think that Egypt is,
The Promised Land for all mankind, and that defines their biz.So they are trapped within themselves, and think that they are free;
Just like Houdini – door’s unlocked – and they are free indeed;
But they think they must pick the lock to walk out through the door,
Christ’s opened it for all of us – we need to do no more.When we believe Christ set us free, then we are free indeed;
We simply do our life in Him, let God supply our need –
Which is undue advantage when you take a look around,
For we walk with the lights turned on, feet firmly on the ground.So when you walk into the room and take a look around,
Know this – the lights for you are on, you’ll know what you have found;
They too will know some things you don’t – they have the light of men –
Compared to Son their torch is dim, but take a look again –For maybe that’s not all of it, though pain is down that road;
The blind find ways to look around and bear their heavy load;
For salt is not the porridge, and the leaven’s not the bread,
The light just lets you see for real, and hear what’s being said.The world’s the same for all of us, though cultures different are;
Christ’s salt, and light, and leaven, make life rich right where you are;
It’s not the world, but “attitude” – your “angle of attack”
Like airplanes gaining speed for flight – and you’ve control of that.So, let them see just who you are, engage them in their game;
Just be yourself, in Christ that is, “Supremely yours, your name”;
Remember Mary Poppins’ line, “An element of fun,
Must be admixed in every task, if that task’s to be done.”navigation
