Chrysalis

If you poke a chrysalis you kill the butterfly;
If you open up its shell it cannot ever fly;
If your patience is too short to wait till time is right,
Go find something else to do, and let it take to flight.

So it is with growth in folks who want to fly again,
Patience is most needful if they’re ever going to reign
In the kingdom of their shops where they are wont to be –
Keep your hands off chrysalis and miracle you’ll see.

Cost of all such miracles is huge – ’twas ever thus;
We walk into others’ lives and see they’re just like us;
That’s how we know what to do, what’s happened, what must be –
Just like looking in the glass – in them I now see me.

Now I’m seeing it is good to spread oneself around;
Overfeeding is not good, it’s best when folks are found
To be able to move on and live their lives just fine –
Takes a load off our agenda – lets them cross the line.

What’s the fun if race is won by us – we’ve had our day;
Better they do life themselves, and work out their own way;
Life is complex if it’s not lived one step at a time,
Chrysalis is part of it although it looks like slime.

Help me Lord see what to do this day – the part that’s mine;
Help me live my life myself and better use my time
On things relating to my tasks in You – leave all the rest
In Your hands, and theirs, so they can have the very best.

Thanks.
