Day After Next

“Day after next is all I see for me,
’Cept on the weekends when those days are squeezed;
So if you want an answer right away,
That is the pattern – two days from today.

“That is my short-term – long-term’s done in years;
When pushed to mid-term, that’s what brings the tears;
I cannot cope with mid-range days and weeks,
Short-term and long-term else my vision’s weak.

“If in the mid-term life quite stable is,
I can do short-term – home and in my biz;
I need the buffer – cash, emotion, sway,
Else in my short-term I don’t win the day.

“Three weeks at outside – that’s how far ahead,
I can sense trouble – future can be read;
Then it gets fuzzy – nothing much at all;
Mid-term’s a problem – I go there, I fall.

“Long-term’s no problem, that’s as clear as day;
It shapes the short-term; it defines my way;
But there’s a hole where mid-term’s supposed to be,
That’s where the bridge will go – a need for me.”
