Systemic Ways
We do it all the time with kids, to aid
Them in their doing life – a way is laid
For them to cope with detailed adult world,
For which they’re unprepared as boy or girl.We pass on tips and tricks which helped us out;
The things which helped us cope and move about
Our world as we grew up – as systems laid,
Which answer, “Was your bed this morning made?”We help them stand up straight and walk their walk;
We demonstrate how they can also talk
With others as they pass on through their lives,
And cope as best they can until they thrive.We celebrate success, ignore their goofs;
We focus on their strengths, not weaker suits;
We show and tell how life can open up;
Encourage them to strut their better stuff.The same holds true as we progress through life –
We help each other in our darkest nights;
Find ways to help our neighbors rise again,
Dust off, and put behind mistakes and pain.Then as our lives approach the parting time,
There’s need once more to help us cross the line
With dignity – old age is something new;
There’s systems once again which we can use.But hey! We’ve walked this road one time before!
Used systems – little ways to do some more
Within a life that moved in constant swirl –
When we were young – as bright-eyed boys and girls.navigation
