Immigration
Immigration’s okay if it happened ’fore the whites
Came here with all their lies and took away our land and rights;
I hear them dicker ’bout their quotas, see how they behave,
It nauseates me – not much culture left for me to save.Of course that doesn’t matter if it’s all about the line,
Which runs between our culture-groups – a line which God defined,
To give us time to smarten up, stop trashing planet earth,
A line which has no impact once we’ve had our second birth.At least that’s what the white folks call it in poetic way;
But listen for their actions, don’t be fooled by what they say;
If you are still uncertain, do a little powwow dance –
If they’re for real it’s “curious”; if not, it makes them rant.Not powwow in the formal sense, with popcorn, candy fluff;
More in the war-dance frame of mind – for real, though kind of rough;
Like what whites do with creeds, and rules, and ways to eat your soup –
The subtle ways folks show and tell that you’re not of their group.You say, “But I could lose my job ’cause Whitey pays the bill;
You know that I must bow and scrape, for Whitey rules us still;
Not in the formal sense, of course, since we obtained the vote,
More in the corridors of power – those rules which no one spoke.Well, Whitey should get used to it – for as she said last night,
“In Israel, all crowds are mixed – preview of heaven’s sight;
There’s Christians, Jews, and Muslims from all corners of the globe,
Who far outnumber whites these days – in God the world is whole”.Now granted, she’s a TCK, like me, and others here;
Her life in Christ dissolves that line, and lets her venture near
To where the others on the globe live out their lives these days,
And be enriched by other groups – their food, beliefs, and ways.The game today’s not “zero-sum”, we each can be all right;
You can be you, hold your beliefs, there is no need to fight;
I cannot go back to the time I thought I was a “white” –
I’m “Creenglish” – that’s a mixture, ma’am, in God that is all right.But it’s okay to be white to – just drop the attitude;
It’s not unique to whites of course, it’s here in plenitude;
To quote the preachers on the tube, “You must be born again;
Let Jesus bring the Kingdom in, and in your heart now reign”.Of course that means, “Give up your throne – whatever you put there;
The question Eve and Adam faced when they first breathed this air;
We’d rather live apart from God, do life the way we wish,
Than let Him lead and fill our lives with Spirit’s food delish.And that’s okay – for God invented choice and gave to us,
The chance to live our lives in Him – now in this world of muss;
So, what the heck, the choice is yours, but take a second look –
The world has changed because of Abe, and peoples of The Book.It’s not that friction is unique to people of a faith;
Come on, wake up, it’s money, man, throughout the human race;
And power – two things which we must have to play at being God;
We draw them from our neighborhoods then strut across the sod.We throw our weight around through rules, and innuendos, sword;
We dole out treasure we have seized with beatific word;
To others we appear as God, or like in key respects –
It’s to the image on the coin we bow and genuflect.But when God’s back within our hearts, and guides us in our ways,
There is a change-of-flow in us from “in” to “out” which says
To all around, “You can relax, I will not seize your goods,
Nor throw my funded weight around insisting how you should –Live out your lives just like I do, I’ve given up those ways;
Come on, let’s hand-in-hand go forth and live as Heaven says;
For salt, and light, and leaven, when mixed into culture’s base,
Improves its flavor, brightness, fluff, for all, in every case.For God is power that’s far beyond the latent power on earth;
Combined, there is a power to move a mountain-load of turf;
He has resources far beyond our wildest dreams, when mixed
With those of earth, there’s lots for all, when attitudes are fixed.So, come on, friend, let’s do our lives together, hand in hand;
There’s nothing wrong with how you live, or how you understand
The world around, just drop the part about who’s who in life,
And join us in this human race, bring to this darkness, light.navigation
