Well, There We Are
Well,
There we are –
Seven more set free
To be
Themselves –Amidst tsunamic
Pressures on their lives
To buckle under,
“Be like me”,
As if the ways of others
Were the best.But no –
We each are built unique
And special,
With our hopes
And dreams
Deep in our hearts –It wasn’t me –
I had not known myself
About the gifts,
Or wish-list’s
Gentle games –Until one day
A couple wrote a book
And got it out –
It drifted ’round
Until I spied it on a shelf.A lucky break –
For soon I was myself set free
To be the person in God’s eye
That day,
Long years ago,
When he invented me –And as I grew
Up into all the wondrous
Facets of this life,
I grew relaxed –
More detail I sought out,
Then tuned the package up.And then tonight –
Seven more exposed
To gracious gifts
From you, O Lord –
Embodied in
The flesh and blood
Of other folks who live so close to each –
Unseen –
And yet so near
For all these years. Not only that –
Seven more set free
To be the gifts
God had in mind
For others in their groups –For once we grasp,
That we are also gifts
God had in mind to bless our friends
And families,
As we do
Our daily round –We start to grasp
With greater firmness,
All the beauty of this life –
No longer bound
By strictures of
Our focus,
Of our point of view,
Or of our way of doing life.Thanks.
