My Senses Are Filled (Romans 8:4)

“My senses are filled to the brim, running o’er”,
Sang Denver in song from the night-forest floor;
“You fill them, my pleasure is filled to the brim,
In sweet evening air, as this song I begin.”

So Christ in our lives with his grace fills us up –
The hollows and shortfalls in work which is tough
Find fullness, completion, where we would fall short,
His presence within stills the critic’s retort.

For we do not walk after flesh and its ways –
They lack in results which nonverbally says,
“Just open your life to a Power above,
And let Him fulfill your hard work with His love.

“And walk after Spirit, God’s Spirit within,
Stop being frustrated, your new life begin;
For He wants to help you walk on through the night,
And find your fulfillment in life which is right.”
