“Into Training ” (Normal Christian Worker – Disciplines His Body" Nee Series 7/10)

"A tool the body is", says Paul,
Not "hindrance", "sin-source " – it's all
About maintaining for the cause
Ones physicality – because –

Without a tool-set, paired or not,
It gets us 'round, so here we're taught
To nurture it, but set it straight,
It works for us, till pearly gates –

And then it gets transformed somehow
To serve what's next, which Paul allows
To subject to be of his clear thought
But that's for later time, or not.

Lord all this physicality
Which in old age one starts to see
As it breaks down, or comes to fruit
From sloppy living, twisted roots –

Brings us up short, confessing life
As poorly spent, was not done right,
No matter where on earth we stayed
It's big mistakes we all have made.

Alzheimer's and such chronic ills
Assail us now, as life assails
Us with a truth we have ignored,
A subject with which we were bored.

That heart-ache fellow had a quip
'Bout horse received on which to sit
And ride out into life – he shot
It, now no tool for work he's got.

I passed that on (as Wayne to me)
To fellow preacher – gone to see
In hospital, with heart-ache great,
In which we now participate.

So "training" fits the work at hand
Paul says – or so Nee understands –
Like strrenuocity of task –
Who's up for such? Not I, alas!

Some ways of life on normal roads
Are where we train, accept the goals
Which prod us to attain the best
That's possible for us, that's lest –

We crap out in the course of work
And end up acting like the jerk
We are in this regard – our ways
Have failed to train for tougher days.

First, sleep, as Bredesen points out,
Is when and where trash exits – route
You planned so well, O Father-God,
If not done well, our ways turn odd.

For "race" is quite exceptional,
So too is "fighting powers of hell",
But preps for both precede the day
Of battle – so for us today.

Food quality, as FX states,
Is critical – as one partakes
Of "S-A-D" one trouble gains
Far down the road as "chronic pain"

We'd best knock off our hectic race –
One day in seven; nights; cut the pace;
Enjoy the world where we are placed,
With bikes and skis, or skates up-laced.

Now clothing's to protect our skin
And bodies – hence our clothes begin
To be a factor of our thought,
Or lifestyle-tools for tasks – which ought –

To be in keeping with our soul
As it sets sail for proffered goal;
Detachment from emotions' bonds
Enables freedom to put on –

What then befits with honesty
One's life, lived with integrity,
And cultured-space where we're assigned
To do some task of body, mind.

Thanks Holy Spirit for this. (Part B regarding sexuality – see later)
