“Taking On The Big Stuff” (Normal Christian Worker – Chapter 8/10 – Nee – Have a Mind to Suffer)

I doubt we will ever know
Which base-attitude will show
’Till some time of testing comes
To our lives – "unlucky ones".

Then we find what's taken root,
Drawn resource ’till bearing fruit,
Is quite evident beneath
Surface level peace we seek.

When all-hell breaks forth on us,
Seems to others, "so much fuss";
But to us it cuts to chase,
Then we view what is our case:

Soft like mush beneath the touch?
"Hard as nails" defining us?
Who can tell until such times?
Not this fellow – here I'm blind.

Sure, I understand Nee's word:
"A mind to suffer? Be assured,
Once that's settled in your soul
You'll press through to reach the goal."

But reality today
Or tomorrow has away
Of defining well for each
Where we're at – like Moses' beach –

He was trapped on Red Sea shore,
Foe behind, could see no more;
"Cool it, get some sleep there, son,
Freedom comes – your work is done."

"Sleep like Jesus in the boat?
More, like friends, for panic broke
In upon them – "little faith"
Showed in them to be the case.

Easy stuff, "low hanging fruit",
Strengthens us in our pursuit
Of the higher, tougher tasks;
Thinking low is high? Just laugh –

And move on, God preps a stream
Of humanity it seems –
Low today's for future's high;
Face today with Spirit nigh.

You're no match in battle plan;
That's the point, no person can
In and of herself (or him)
Beat old satan – Spirit wins.

Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
