“A Normal Christian Worker – 2 – Stability” (Reflection on Watchman Nee – The Normal Christian Worker,Kowtoon, HongKong, Hong Kong Church Book Room Ltd, 1971] Chapter 2)

A name we get (or Christ has changed,
As He our lives has rearranged),
Gives target-role to grow into,
From when it first comes into view.

Take Peter, Nee points out this chap –
“A rock, I’ll call you – if one asks
What name you use, just give them that –
Then grow up into it – your task –

Demands stability – like rock.
But you’re not there yet, all your talk
Of stable, heart-felt loyalty,
Is fluff – so much banality.

“With three times cock-crows, your denial
Will shake your confidence a while,
Then you will see what Sun Tzu said –
‘Know self and others, or you’re dead!’

For me, it’s “Stu-art” I was named;
First, photo-art to me became
An outlet for artistic side
Which was in me, I could not hide.

Then, novels, and some poetry,
Emerged – through it some folks could see
A glimpse of Jesus’ radiance –
So Gospel-Kingdom could advance.

And now? With posting coming up,
And “Island in the sun [Tsu]) stuff
Relating to economy,
And mandate there confronting me –

With challenge in my second gift,
Which caused for me, the family rift –
Two years assigned to make the cash,
Then be God’s mouth, as He has asked.

But do it “photographically”,
With pix laid out for all to see
(With some perceiving deep inside
Christ’s presence; Holy Spirit’s, guide).

So, Holy Spirit, yes, indeed!
You had to Peter, Stuart, feed;
But we’ll get there as you proclaimed –
Matured, and stable, like Pete’s name.

Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
