“Mine Eyes Have Seen…” [Reflection on healthcare system and Eye Situation]
“Mine eyes have seen the glory…” sang one side of Civil War,
It was fun to march along to when you never fought before;
Thoughts of strife and conflict swirled through the stories in the night,
But the truth was way less fun.Now my eye, which had the shingles, had a flare-up recently;
Felt like grit beneath the eyelid, wouldn’t flush so I could see;
So I went to see optometrist who had a microscope,
Or at least that was my hope.I gave her name of quarterback, and referential guy,
Whom she contacted directly, talked it through his concerning eye;
Then she sent me to the Peg to have it looked at patient-ly,
So I drove there on one eye.They said, come back in the morning – we will phone appointment time;
I arrived at time they told me got a resident (that’s fine);
Upshot was they plugged hole in eye with crazy glue and such;
Sent me home for eye to heal.I was grateful for referral, thought I’d go and thank the Doc;
First, went home to drop my things off, and with wife to have a talk;
“Other Doctor had been waiting through appointment time”, she said,
Not sure how that all transpired.Seems us inmates run asylum, while not knowing all the rules;
So there’s multi complications, many times we feel like fools;
But I’d rather take up driving than go sliding off the road,
As life out here turns bad.“Say thank you to the doctor in the morning”, was my thought;
“Phone the other doctor pronto, smooth the waters as I ought”;
In the end, I am most grateful all worked out – it’s hard to see,
What went wrong in getting help.Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
