“Humility: The Photographer’s One Message” (fruit of the spirit)

We watched this “chic-flick” here, one eve,
’Bout photographing, if you please;
The central guy in “boy meets girl”
Took pictures midst the picture’s swirl.

He did not “self promote” himself –
Let pictures speak, exchanged for wealth
Their worth, not him – he kept alone,
Built life, for kith and kin and home.

He asked that folks not break that bond;
Took place in Turkey, ’cross the pond;
Reminds me of Paul’s letters there –
Encouraged us to be prepared –

To enter into life of stress;
To humble be, as they confess,
Their Lord and Savior all around;
To humble be on ancient ground.

Such values stand the tests of time;
Not always have they all been mine;
But this is now much easier,
Now I’ve watched this photographer.

For that’s the story of that pix
Of St. John’s healing – there it sits
For Holy Spirit to imbue –
It with its balm for me and you.

And other photos down the line?
Perhaps they’ll also make out fine;
But I’ve so much to deal with (me),
Lest arrogance cause folks to flee.

For we don’t like that attitude –
So hard to access one who’s rude;
Oh Holy Spirit, as Paul writes,
May attitudes be set aright.

May I, as I on task embark,
Not freak at size of task, but start
In You, by stepping one foot, then,
The next – that others comprehend –

Exactly what is on Your mind,
As Holy Spirit speaks in time;
As photos float through future days
Like seeds, which grow through troubled ways.

Help me to stay behind the scenes;
Mature, beyond what’s present seen;
That tasks assigned for me to do
Might be of use, as each is viewed.

Help me, O Spirit in our age,
As in the past,through wisdom’s Sage
And healthful words, You worked Your best
To give mankind love’s active rest.

Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
