Regular Community College Programs in Local Economic Development
The broadest approach to training as an approach to economic development is that done in the community college type facilities. This tends to be skills-oriented and is tailored to the existing needs in the world of business and finance.
There may be some effort to include a "general human development " componant, but even here it is often linked to the particular trade being taught. For those who hold a "corporatist" outlook, these trainees are having their "human capital" upgraded, either for their own benifit or that of a future employing firm.
These courses and programs are tailored to industry by soliciting input from trades, and often by involving trades peole in the course delivery itself, in whole or in part.
