Apprenticeship Programs to Boost Local Economy
Apprenticeship is another aspect of training which can be used in the development of a local economy. Training moneys are spent locally, Regional businesses are strengthened, and up to date information is brought directly into the local enterprise.
In Manitoba this program is overseen by the Apprenticeship Branch of Manitoba Education and Training, and covers about fifty trades.
Two Community Colleges co-operate in the provision of the 20% classroom portion of the training. Red River Community College, and Assiniboine Community College. Co-operating institutions in other provinces can be found on the Apprenticeship Branch linksite
