“A Poem In A Picture Book” [Series of Reflections on David du Chemin’s Book The Soul Of The Camera - pp. 138-151]

A story can’t be told until it’s done –
Though parts may be –
For what’s it all about may yet emerge
For all to see.

There’s conflict of contrasting pairs about,
Though meaning’s not;
So movement’s just a movement, but can shout,
When tied to plot.

A hinted mystery in detail’s seen,
Means nothing ’till,
Juxtaposition (boundary) makes – for all
Can meaning fill.

The stages of each change are all about,
Within, without,
Both speed and their importance can be shown
In a whispered shout.

Relationships revealed within the frame,
Implied beyond,
With person, number, tense, aspect and voice,
Take mood beyond –

In ways just like the novel does, or film,
Or poetry;
And courage, in its context, can reveal
Timidity.

I see that I could teach a course that way –
As circle grows;
Like Zorro’s three-foot operating base –
Its future shows.

Thanks Lord for this.
