“Collaboration” [Series of Reflections on David du Chemin’s Book The Soul Of The Camera - pp. 266-271]

When we collaborate, with Paul,
As body parts, demanding all,
There is a part which David brings –
It’s us that makes the camera sing.

So keep in mind the part we give
To mix-and-match, with tools which live
To such extent as we allow –
Embedded life of craft somehow.

For each machine and process learned
Embodies others work – when spurned
Without consideration now,
Stops gifts from others; so allow –

Them entry to the dance of life;
Though not with us, that’s somehow right,
For we will usher forth our pix
To speak forth life in global mix.

Perhaps some other takes our work,
And mixes it with theirs – will flirt
With concepts way beyond our ken,
So all of us that way can bend –

Our shoulders to community,
Both good and bad, in what each sees
As what to do with what we know –
Then to the future all will go.

Thanks Lord for this.
