“Through, Not Of Me”
So Lord, what is the point You’re trying to make,
As I review her sermons, hear her take
On life within her classroom, hear her words,
Conveying life for us through what she’s heard?I hear her in both times she spoke Your word
Reflect on ramping up – that life’s absurd,
And upside down in how You set things up;
And how it’s us who need to hear, “Enough!” –Enough of holding us in center place;
Enough of thinking we’re some special case;
Enough of thinking You are in our debt;
Enough of thinking, “Ain’t seen nothing yet”.So, Lord, what is the point in all of this,
As you had me review – lest point I’d missed
Of what You’re saying through the dust and smoke,
In word You chose for me in what she spoke?“Stu, it’s not in the words of former days,
But rather, in her attitude of praise –
Of how in everything she said and did,
You need to hear her stance – and how I bid –“You also to take up that stance in life –
Of more of Me and less of you – it’s tight
From now on in, so buckle up, sit down,
And brace yourself as merry-goes-around.”Lord, I am hearing I need quiet space,
Like center of Your pinwheel’s central place,
Not just as preaching point, but rather to
Live out my life on Kingdom-layer with You.Lord, help me to let go, take up Your cross,
As I move through these days, know You’re the boss,
Not me – and end of all this is not me;
“How great I art” – hold up that others see.So Lord, as I proceed throughout this day,
lift obstacles obstructing others way,
That all might in the end have endless view
Of heaven’s glory-days in lives renewed.Thanks Lord for this.
