“Follow Your Knows” [Series of Reflections on David du Chemin’s Book The Soul Of The Camera - pp. 106-117]
“Follow your nose” is good in part,
Then comes the point when we depart –
Head off beyond what we’ve all known;
Visit the crops already sown.Insights take time to grow in man,
Following patterns of time, so plan –
Returning to view (“re-view) we grow
Often in scope – view what we sow.“Unknown” is context of all our quest;
Bigger in scope invites our best;
Mystery calls – to me, at least –
“What makes that light? Jurassic beast?Put self in contexts, books or life;
View from perspectives, day and night;
Random selections from news and sports;
Fashion and dining – whatever works.Techniques you’ve seen in other’s work –
Import, add to mix, adjust the torque
On others’ firm-held points of view;
Then find the joy of sight that’s new.Juxtaposition – like A. T. Books –
Mixes our views – not much it took
To raise new questions once mix was seen –
Two knowns assumed – from past we’re weaned.Thanks Lord for this.
