“Interruption” [Series of Reflections on David du Chemin’s book The Soul Of The Camera - pp. 33-43]

Interpretation’s what we do
In taking pictures close to you;
Expressions fleeting on your face;
Split-second’s captured, rapid pace.

It’s not machine-gun-captured-art,
With rapid bursts on shatter’s part;
But we anticipate response
From portrait shooter’s praise or taunts.

Like a Churchill, miffed at lost cigar;
Like silent waiting from afar;
Whatever fascinates a tot
Can make the infant’s portrait talk.

So yes, we add our point of view
To people-portraits which we do;
Come in and set a spell with us,
And we’ll make pictures, little fuss.

Thanks Lord for this.
