“Authenticity” [Series of Reflections on David du Chemin’s Book The Soul Of The Camera - pp. 129-157]

A tool enables us to do our part,
Of turning out illusions as an art;
But when they go too far, perfection goes –
An end to life the antiseptic knows.

The same holds true for story, language, poem –
Perfectionists remove our will to roam
Into those fields as adults, there to play;
“Perfection” shuts such out from light of day.

And yet incessant longing of our hearts
Is for impactful life – for living starts
When we’re enabled it to be free, and let
Our neighbors be the same – their past forget.

Lord, help me to take up some action new;
Reach into life, while hand in hand with You,
Discover essence of a life renewed,
And guided by that light, enrich the view.

Thanks Lord for this.
