“To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice” (1 Samuel 15:22; Revelation 2:09; Matthew 10:17; John 16:02; Romans 8:1-17) [War – Sub Series Number One – Reflections on Timothy Snyder’s Book, On Tyranny – Poem #2 – Chapter 1]

He nailed it – chapter one he says,
That place is where the devil plays;
They bowed in eighty-eight’s packed court,
Then stood aside at purging sport –

Which told the leaders and their ilk
What they could do – in fancy silk,
And with a deep solemnity –
On Scripture’s insight took a pee –

Riotic glance around at pulse
Of long-time members – not repulsed?
Then gung-ho to the fray they stormed;
Into positions cronies wormed.

As Hitler, Polpot, Stalin too,
Defined the losers (those types do)
As “More than two steps back from pack,
Who can’t catch up” – so them we zap.

Of course Sir George saw eye to eye –
“Such loser men should surely die”;
Define them first “inhuman”; then,
It’s easy to destroy non-men.

He rightly says all jump ahead –
“New leaders lead; we’ll not be led!
Why, we’re out front; turn traitors in;
With pitchfork, scythes, we now begin.

But for our loyalty we’ll gain
Access to killing-toys (insane);
Cut out their access to the mail
Online, or off, remove the snail.

“New settings need new rules of war”;
“That’s what a victory is for –
It’s not to overthrow the beast,
But be the beast – that’s what we seek”.

But God says in His Holy book
(If all would take the time to look) –
“Abide in Me, and I in you;”
“Obey My Spirit’s guidance to –

“A deeper life on Kingdom-layer,
Where you’re at once eternal players;
Not sacrifice, as such, for you –
Obey My voice in all you do.”

Thanks Lord for this.
