Go Long” [Sun Tsu series Ch 7 #11 (Ecclesiastes 9:11-12 )

Sometimes the only way to win
Is take the long view – war we’re in
Has many aspects – “Far” and “Near”
Need pondering – not always clear.

Which one is best – perceive and think;
Don’t rush right in and prospects sink;
Stay in control, free-movement keep;
Last one to move has better sleep –

If he (or she) has learned to weigh
The pros and cons of far away
As near, and near as far away –
“Direct” or “not” is central play.

For power is balanced (tenuous
It is; long trips are strenuous);
The one who makes best use of trips,
Can use this in strategic hits.

Lord Jesus, so it was with You –
You took your time, had Satan fooled
By letting him make opening move,
Which, in the end, a bad move proved.

For Satan thought short-term as win
Would be enough to strengthen sin
Amongst a motley crew of fools –
Long-term ignored – now Jesus rules.

For Satan has no power himself,
Except what others take from shelf
And give to him (useless to them
As they with wind and currents bend).

So too, for me – I hear this night,
“Hold off on Tyranny, for fight
Is not too swift or strong as such,
But to Christ’s mind – so keep in touch”

Thanks Lord for this.
