“Historiography” [War – Sub Series Number One – Reflections on Timothy Snyder’s Book, On Tyranny – Poem #21 – Epilogue]
He wraps things up with men of straw –
(’Course “History” who’s hungry maw
Will eat you if you careless be,
Could serve us well, which we’ll soon see).Lord, he proposes larger streams,
But plum ignores what banker’s seen –
The shift of GDP in play
From eighty of the present day –To thirty-five percent for West;
’Course Yanks won’t stand to lose the best,
So war’s begun to ramp on up –
It’s cash that’s King – we’re at the top.Like “CREAM”, “Cash rules, the saying goes,
All things around” – and so it flows
Into the pocket of my jeans,
Or else it’s hell on earth – which means –If we don’t get some cash for folks
Now drowning down in steerage, blokes
Will fight indeed – one can’t hoard cash,
And think that peace on earth can last.It’s all about “Economy”;
Those in behind, no doubt, can see
What’s going on; how rolls the dice
From unseen hand – their para-dice.Thanks Lord for this.
