“Preaching To His Choir” [War – Sub Series Number One – Reflections on Timothy Snyder’s Book, On Tyranny – Poem #11 – Chapter 11]

Where to even start with this?
“Journalists support our bliss”,
Is his mantra – I worked there –
That’s just blind, and quite unfair.

Algorithms are a fact
This wee chapter somehow lacks;
Half and half – the country’s split –
Privilege bemoans its slip.

Doxy of the Orthodox,
Is “My Doxy” – this guy balks
When his privilege is gone,
Backed by war ships, planes, and bombs.

T-R arrogance “Do life
Like I do”; “Immune from strife”;
“Truth is what my folk believe”;
“Liberal thought the others leave”.

Lying is to soften truth –
White folks do it, setting loose
Myths convenient to power;
Some believed from hour to hour.

Try engaging Jell-O-folks
With some pithy piece of yoke,
They’ll look back as he describes –
Why does he give friends free rides?

Economics is at base –
There’s no jobs in lower space;
He cries “Foul” for journalists;
Steerage drowns – on jobs insist.

Turn his “Truth” both ways, I say;
That brings balance into play;
War is how it is resolved –
“Get the steerage-folks involved”

“Blow things up for GDP
Replace bombs – investments, see?
Last war Africa was used
To fund rebuild – win or lose.

I hear, “Status quo as good”;
“Keep them from our neighborhood”;
Twaddle from self-righteousness
Lacks in balance – hence a mess.

Thanks Lord for this.
