“That Central Pin” [War – Sub Series Number One – Reflections on Timothy Snyder’s Book, On Tyranny – Poem #18 – Chapter 18]
The word today is “Plan ahead”,
So when there’s trouble, plans are read
Into the record – “We’ll control
And manage terror” – you should know.But if on pin-head you reside,
Such cataclysms you’ll abide;
Upon the sheet of ice you’ll skate,
And, unaffected, you can wait.In purges of the UCC
I learned the hard way, “Still” to be;
I did, it was a strain indeed –
Took years before “Ice” filled that need.Then “Pin” in pinwheel ratched that up,
So now I talk about that stuff,
And quickly share the key to layer
Of “Ice”, as Kingdom’s place of prayer.From which a whirling pinwheel’s fine,
No skin from nose is lost – sublime
The life one lives at central point
Of stillness – freed to then anoint –Whatever needs be done with love –
Sometimes it’s “Yes” or “No”, because
Both options rest on “Welfare for
All people here” – hype’s then ignored.Thanks Lord for Kingdom’s central place,
Where we, in stillness make our case
For reasoned, strong, response in love –
Not iron fist ’neath silken glove.Thanks Lord for this.
