“Agenda?” [War – Sub Series Number One – Reflections on Timothy Snyder’s Book, On Tyranny – Poem #1 – Intro]

A history Prof reflecting back
On history most people lack;
Agenda his? Gay crap again?
Or anti-Trump of liberal pain?

It’s hard to say from Preface words;
“It’s global,” needs “response” was heard
By him in Europe’s hundred years
Of wars, and despots, Commie fears.

He’s got that right; but wait, what’s that?
Dismissing “Slide to rags from fat”?
“Those in the steerage first to drown”?
With Hillary on mid-class ground?

Does he address social-ist scenes
(Two steps removed and you have been
Stroked from the ranks of future hope)?
Mind-numbing crap of left-wing “dope”.

I’ll have to wait and see his view;
For all those guys were from that stew –
The nationals of Nazi fame;
And inter-nats when Commies came –

Then Bernard Shaw spoke for the rest –
As one-on-one we all are blessed
By thought from social-outlook scene;
But “Wipe out losers”?! Kind of mean.

Seems Mussolini liked the rich –
As plutocrat he made his pitch;
We call it Fascist (giver types) –
Pareto thought that group was right.

Think Veblen (pre-the social stuff);
And algorithmic network guff
Dividing up most thought exchange –
Now bad as pre-war – links quite lame.

And then there’s fact of lion’s mouth –
When quiet, stick your head down south;
But suddenly it snaps – you die –
So lion bites – then we asks why.

But all this talk is too late now –
They’ve moved from “If” to “When?” and “How?”
Sun Tzu said – stop it if you can;
Once entered, end’s not known to man.

So thank you, Louis, for this tome –
I’ll think on it, here in my home;
Reflect; and write; get back to you,
As buddies from those church-wars do.

Thanks Lord for this.
