“Controlling The Van” [Sun Tzu series chapter 7 number 10] (James 4:1-6; 1 John 4:18; Matthew 5:37; judges chapter 6-8)

The feisty ones, those lured by greed;
Disquieted, who feel the need
For action to feel peace within,
Can be a pain once war begins.

For such folks (and some others too),
Would press ahead to do, and do
Not think what might be best all ’round;
Thus push to conquer larger ground.

There is another issue here –
Not heebie-jeebies, but the seers
Who never live in “here and now” –
In peacetime they’re at war somehow –

And when the time for war has come,
It’s peace they’re in; their war is done,
And they’ve moved on – one jump ahead,
While soldiers stacking up are dead.

So Sun Tzu cautions – “Circumspect”
Should be your motto, then select
The time and place for blitzkrieg hit,
With secret plans none can predict.

Improper use of Prophet’s view
Can, in the end, end profit new;
But war’s about release of flame
Within a group with common name.

The plunder, handled right, empowers
The front-line soldier’s battle power;
Expanded lands, to leader’s views,
Lures larger groups to battle choose.

But look at USA today –
Their “heavy”, tossed into the fray,
Says “Gas on coals; let’s get a flame;
Cold War’s not war – it’s just a name”

But war it is that’s shaping up,
As if they sense things will get rough
As decades fade, world-order shifts,
And “short’s” their end of fabled “stick”.

For others read Sun Tzu as well;
Take lessons on the gains of hell –
Imaginations turn to planes;
Twin-Tower target’s hit again.

King-of-the-mountain lasts a while,
Then struts about in kingly style;
But in the end “usurper” comes
And King-of-mountain’s reign is done.

In business, things work much the same –
New ships embark on Spanish main;
Usurpers, keen to topple Kings
Reap rich rewards, engagements bring.

“Be wise as serpents; tame as doves”;
Engage each episode with love;
Both “Yes” and “No” have places here –
On Kingdom-layer – love drives out fear.

Thanks Lord for this.
