“Business Cycles” [Canadian economy – unemployment and inflation –A-9]

The ending chapter of this book, for me,
Is so much offal out on farms we see –
The farmers keep the cow for meat and milk,
And leave the rest for lackeys and their ilk.

The lackeys scramble, pencil propped on ear,
To tally, figure, how to make things clear;
To better make their fortunes “Soon” they say –
For life is offal – always was that way.

The cycles’ chart is a record of our sin,
In moneyed-ways, where farmer always wins
(Not farmer Brown, but owner of the farm
We’re all within, despite official yarn).

So life is offal for most folks today –
“Splash in the pond creates the winners’ waves;
For calm means broke; make waves to make some cash;
Called “Cyclical” – “it’s awful”, if I’m asked.

Thanks Lord for this.
