“Twenty Years”

The heave-ho letter came today
(Less twenty years), and cost I paid
That Church have life – on April fools;
I rose again – gave Christ His tools –

To do His rescue-mission bold;
For every fishhook people hold,
Has minnow or a worm as bait;
That’s me – they did not hesitate –

To rush right in and take the hook;
They won; I lost – just like the Book
Said would be road we’d walk with You,
Christ Jesus – here, there’s nothing new.

And You were right – I’m free; they’re not;
They got their way – You? Lesson taught;
For those with ears to hear, You say,
“Guys, wisen-up – or you will pay.”

Thanks for two decades down this road,
Since Easter weekend when You rode
Your donkey into hands of man
And woman-kind – Your Jesus band.

It’s not the road I thought ’twould would be –
Bit lumpier; but now I see
The good You brought when I obeyed –
(Not always in the cards) – we pay –

Then somewhere down the road at last,
The crop springs up – and that’s a blast;
Lord, let’s press on, Your hand in mind, (sic)
As I live out Your view of ‘kind’.

And if I’m wrong; heard You amiss,
May Your life rise as heaven-kissed;
Thanks Lord, it blows my mind, Your ways –
These crazy Easter-morning days.

Thanks Lord for this.
