“A Blessed Present Gift” [Die-Broke series #5 –p. xxi] (and Luke 1:45)
For one it’s all about oneself –
“Take hold; climb down from quiet shelf;
Courageous be; make plans; set goals;
Live now; and shift your life to bold.”But Mary found it in done to her –
Accepted it – went to to confer
With ’Lizabeth whose voice went loud –
“Blessed mom indeed – believed; allowed.”Like Abe and Sarah years before,
Accepted news ’bout folks galore
Who’d blessed be by their first kid
If skepticism they’d be rid.“Take charge” (the Yankee way of life),
Is true, half true, so not quite right;
There’s passive view we see lived here,
And inter-active I come near.Each view of life has place it fits,
But don’t succumb to lure of it
If you are wired another way;
Find who you are – “believe”; “obey”.Innocuous – these principles,
Seem at the first impregnable;
But pregnancy with Abe and Joe
Unfolds in ways that no-one knows.“Rich present life” Die-broke suggests
Is best for all – “Your past forget”;
“The future’s what your plans are for”;
Still, Liz and Mary had much more.They changed the world – bit players, they
Encountered God, chose to obey;
Which is not part of Die-broke’s scene,
In century that’s mean and mean.“You favor me with visit, friend;
You took God’s gift in hand, and then
Made haste to visit – brought us joy
At meeting of our unborn boys.No fear or blame; no judgment time;
Comparing did not cross the line;
Priorities not set by them
Saw Kingdom.-layer with mankind blend.Not right away, but down the road;
Mom pondered this, so we are told,
Then lived each day best she knew how –
Just as we do, for God allows –Us freedom to mount Kingdom-layer
To start each day with Kingdom’s prayer –
“Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done;
Grace us to live ’till victory’s won”.Thanks Lord for this.
