“Upright In Whose Sight?” [Die Broke #3 principle] (Luke 1:6 and 25)

So ’Lisbeth and her husband Zech,
Were upright folks, commandments met
In eyes of God, but not with men –
“No kid for you? You’re in the can”.

God’s favor showed way down the road,
When John showed up to ease folks’ load
Of sin and guilt as “Mikvah man”,
Baptizing folks as Mikvah can.

Gabe came with news hot off the throne,
But Zech held back, then went back home;
But silence once imposed on him
Drove him to intercourse begin.

So Lizzie soon took pregnant pause,
Saw God at work with Zech, as cause
The shock – I guess! Old lady then;
But liked result; prayed thanks again.

Bundle of joy, delight John was;
Then friends rejoiced at birth, because
What’s good for Liz is good for all;
New kids for us – make us walk tall.

Does this square up with Die-broke man?
Of course – for family-life sure can
Bring satisfaction deep within;
And volunteering? We all win.

In reconciling man with man,
And men with God as Prophet can,
He’s seen by Die-broke author-type
As doing fine – fills up his plate –

With what he wants from smorgasbord;
But here I see Luke says a word
About D-B’s simplistic tome
That filthy-luker-view can roam –

About and eat on insect lunch,
With scratchy clothes, and locussed crunch;
But that’s what turns his crank – okay –
For rest of us greed makes our day.

Contentment in prosperity
Is quite okay – we caution see
When we do life with center “us” –
That’s when we enter pinwheel’s thrust.

He talks of Caesar and of God;
His take on that is, it’s quite odd
If we don’t chase all mighty-buck;
Then factors in no room for luck.

A mishmash this – perhaps as close
As one can get, on tippy-toes
To giver-life, no center pin
Of Kingdom-life without, within.

“Make money?” Yes – system requires
Exchanging cash – when one retires
To have enough to carry on;
For trouble comes once cash is gone.

Lord, here today, “Disgrace” applies
To “poor” and “broke” – not “kids” – “supplies”
Is what it’s all about today –
Lift such “disgrace” from current play.

Thanks Lord for this.
