“Sometimes...”
Sometimes they’re right –
A phase is done and gone,
Save for our holding on –
An empty shell of what
Was once a vibrant phase.Sometimes they’re right –
And we’re the ones who’ve
Somehow missed the turn,
And find ourselves
Still going down a road
Not meant for us,
But for those folks
Who soon will come to here.Sometimes they’re right –
And see in us so clearly
What we don’t yet see –
That things have changed;
So quietly – they just remove
Some task, or privilege,
Afforded those who still can act –
Or think, or be,
What we no more can be.Lord, thanks for this –
And for the road ahead
I’ve been so sure I knew,
But in reality,
Had not one clue
What’s now arrived.Lord, thanks for folks
Who see more clearly –
Jaundiced, yes,
But carry truth
For us now, nonetheless.Lord, thanks for those
Who rise up now –
Pick up the torch,
And trundle down
Some road
We led them to –
Like Moses on the mount –
But could not enter in
Ourselves –
Content to see afar
A Promised Land –
Content somewhat
That we have done some part,
In You –
And in that act,
Or word,
Or service,
Made our difference –
And given to You
Some room to operate –That in this larger journey,
Your life might bloom and grow;
And life
On planet Earth,
Might also play a part
In larger scene,
Within some larger pix. Thanks Lord for this.
