“The Gift”

The gift was not in sheet or links,
But in my change of heart – methinks
It’s not so hard to toss one off,
As changing hearts, which costs a lot.

I thought at first I’d stick to French,
But then I thought, that makes no sense,
For if they do not Spanish learn
What is the use of French? So spurned –

That road, and entered Spanish realm;
Watched changing stages – overwhelmed
I would have been if I’d not had
That guide as satisfaction’s cat.

Toolmaker I (amongst five things);
I set to work – my heart now sings
As I assemble tools for use,
In learning Spanish, which I choose.

It’s not without its graces, for
Both languages share so much more
With English than I’d been aware –
Two of eleven – I now compare –

Which eases load (it’s how I learn);
It’s lots of work – no cash I earn,
But gain so much for son and wife –
Great way to now enrich each life.

Lord, thanks for this work on new layer,
Out front again, but living there
Is quite okay – full stretch I run,
And that, for me, is piles of fun.

So someday it will all pay off,
Though in the meantime people scoff;
I wish it was not always thus,
For I would rather skip the fuss.

“Defer, defer the gratitude;
Take hold; address your attitude”;
So tired I get of doing that –
“Hey Stu, think, satisfaction’s cat”.

For me? “Yes you, that A.T. thing –
Use second site – learn – make it sing;
Then it will even out okay,
Just like canoe on holiday.

“But in the meantime shut your mouth –
Don’t yap about what you’re about;
Just do it, keep your counsel, man,
It all works out, in Me – it can –

“Be so much more, but you must stay
In Me each day, I’ll guide your way;
Hang loose, it will be okay soon,
And in such freedom you’ll have room.
