“Farewell – Fair-Well Indeed!” (end of Costa Rica poems)
O Lord,
We gathered in their rural home,
As tiny bands have done before
In refuge from reality,
And prayed, baptized, with You adored.So different each, affirmed that day –
Your words to each poured out through me;
Thanks for Your guiding hand for each,
As we together came to be.’Twas milk for some, though base for meat –
No need to tear things from the earth
To grow up on the base You laid,
As we grow up through second birth.He’s born into a world of faith;
Each knows his way or hers, I know;
The Kingdom-concept’s introduced,
And benefits to those below.Now as we take our leave today,
Bless all of us upon our way,
That we might grow up into You –
Thy Kingdom come, as words we pray.Tears shed for us as parting comes
With meanings deeper each time ’round,
Drop stress within, let us press through
Unbroken silence, life profound.Bless each beyond what we deserve –
Your blessings flow through each to all
Those living in this precious jewel
Of landscape, country where he’s called.Lord, at the first I saw no way –
Wished he’d not left, but now I see
How blessed he’s been – through him indeed
We’re also blessed by ways You feed.So Lord, we go back home today;
James’ visa-run; Roberto’s flight;
Bless each – keep those at home, away,
Safe ’till they come to day through night.Thanks Lord for this.
