“The Change”

“Why do we not do all those things
We’re best at, swap for those which bring
Us joy to have and hold, but we
Can’t do as well?” It seems to me –

That life is short, our giftings small
Though potent – our gift’s best of all
If we can move from off to on,
And plug it in where we belong.

“Resourced inclusion” that’s the key
To getting on with me, you see;
Yet in this town and area,
It’s like I’m from Samaria.

Love languages – best keep to self
(The best in life kept on the shelf),
For once it’s out, that’s where they hit –
Efficient that – because of it –

Life just grinds down; but here’s the thing –
It’s Kingdom-life to us which brings
New hope to this reality,
Lets us progress and loving be.

For “no” is how life works on earth
(Or not), but once there’s second birth,
We step up on this sheet of ice
And skate above the rocks – suffice –

To say it is a lark to live
Up here where we can meaning give
To those around, blocked by those walls;
For freedom’s ours – no more we’re stalled –

But liberated – Jubilee –
New room to grow expectantly,
Lord Jesus, You’re the greatest! One
Who’s blown the blockages – we run –

Above the darkness, blocks, and “no’s”,
Above all that – few people know,
Yet once it’s clear we’re free to live
Life as designed – best gifts to give.

So Lord, thanks for the Kingdom-layer
As answer to our daily prayer,
That we might be by others touched
By love in ways that mean so much –

So we can run full stretch at last;
Exchange our contributions vast
For what we need to make life work –
Not viewed as parasitic jerks.

Thanks Lord for this.
