“Nice Touch” (James 4:13-17)
Innocuous, and beautiful – we sang
Our birthday greetings – Advent tone began
It’s canticle of ending-time now near –
Christ in the midst of those who walk in fear.I thought you said there’s mine-work in your past;
To me that’s fear on wheels midst dusty blasts
As ore’s extracted, slag’s stripped from the gold,
’Till bricks of it ship south for folks to hold.Sure, some folks die, but danger-pay’s for that,
Down in the pits of hell, for death’s a fact
One takes in stride, as we live out our lives
Here in this frozen land with children, wives.So, what’s my problem – life’s been good to me;
A glitch or two, some turbulence – but we’ve
Prevailed through times quite tough; now laugh with glee;
Each task has danger – all can plainly see.So, Lord, as we engage this coming year,
Relieve our fears, assure Your presence here;
Help us respond to tasks You have in mind,
And in our actions may we Spirit find.Thanks Lord for this.
