“Hope”  [Reflections On Book The Book Of Revelation "K" (Rev. 19:6; Lamentations 3:19-33)]

His second sermon, was not heard, I think,
For first one sang so loud its meaning drowned
His later words, made mindless bafflegab;
Text for the day for us in first was found.

He said, “It’s hope” (kids played with that a while);
“Christ-candle’s first – and that’s the Christian’s style,
For through the Christ God’s love to all mankind
Is brought to life, and burns for us the while.”

In one small flick he turned tradition ’round –
Stood up for truth and lit Christ’s candle first;
“We don’t await, but live from Christ as core
Who brings us life, delivered now from worst –

“World has to give, the stuff of daily news”–
Hope in the mess like Jeremiah’s stones
Of what once was – Jerusalem now burned;
He spoke those words of hope into our homes.

Just like our text – a roar like ocean waves
That pounded shore, exploding glorious praise –
One simple flick, and Christmas spoke it’s hope
Into our “now”, not Christ of future days.

“Come Jesus come” – will wrap our series up;
He said, “He’s here – closed doors endure His knock;
God waits for man, and steps into our world;
We wait no more – hope’s here, in Christ we walk.”

Lord thanks for this small gesture with its roar
Of praise, like John heard in his ancient dream –
“Lord God Almighty reigns!” – Christ-candle burns,
Proclaiming Christ, and hope – what Christmas means.

Thanks Lord for this.
